Introducing GoDAM 2.2: A Home for All Your Documents

GoDAM now supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, plain text, and CSV. If it belongs to your project, it belongs in your DAM.

A project is rarely just images and videos. There’s a budget spreadsheet, a pitch deck, a contract, a CSV export someone needs to check. Typically, these files live separately from your audio/video media.

Starting today, they can live in GoDAM right alongside your existing media library.

With our v2.2 release, GoDAM makes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, plain text, and CSV files first class citizens. Upload them, preview them in your browser, and share them with a single link, all natively in GoDAM Central, and on WordPress with the GoDAM plugin.

Upload it, and see it

Eleven formats join PDF in the library: .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx, the legacy .doc, .xls, and .ppt, OpenDocument files (.odt, .ods, .odp), plain text, and CSV. Every upload gets a first-page thumbnail instead of a generic file icon, so you spot the budget spreadsheet in a busy folder the way you’d spot an image: at a glance.

Preview in one click

You know the routine: download the deck, find it in your Downloads folder, wait for PowerPoint to open. All that work to check one slide.

With GoDAM 2.2, it’s just a click. The document opens right in your browser, no Microsoft Office or LibreOffice installation required, and it works the same in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Spreadsheets render with gridlines and proper page sizes and longer documents load a page at a time, so previews stay fast.

Find documents more easily

We’ve improved search in GoDAM to make it more effective when you’re looking for documents in your library. Documents are indexed automatically when you upload them, giving search more information to work with.

Searches will now surface file content too, making it easier to locate files even if you don’t recall their exact name.

This is an area we’re continuing to improve, and we’ll keep rolling out search improvements as we learn more about how people find their files.

GoDAM 2.2.0 for WordPress ships alongside this release, and its Document block now embeds and previews every one of these formats on your site, where it previously handled only PDFs. Document widgets for Elementor and WPBakery similarly have you covered.
