GoDAM streamlines your workflow with native media-syndication features that let you publish and synchronize content across YouTube, Vimeo, and Wistia directly from your media library. You can connect multiple accounts per platform, publish transcoded videos to as many channels as you like, and customize unique titles, descriptions, tags, visibility settings, thumbnails, and captions for each destination. When you change an account’s details, the Sync changes button pushes only what changed to keep every platform aligned. This guide walks you through connecting your channels, publishing and tailoring media, adding subtitles, and maintaining cross-platform synchronization without ever leaving your library.
Prerequisites
Each platform needs a little setup on its own side before the Connect button in GoDAM will get you all the way through. Here’s what to have ready.
Vimeo Prerequisites
To connect Vimeo to GoDAM you have to create an API app from developer.vimeo.com. Once the app is created make sure you get the upload access for the application (tip: To expedite the process get in touch with Vimeo support). Once you have the upload access for the app, go to the bottom of the app settings page and add this callback URL: https://app.godam.io/web/settings?setTab=Channels. The Vimeo connect dialog in GoDAM shows the same URL.

YouTube Prerequisites
For GoDAM to be able to update YouTube video’s thumbnails you need to have the YouTube account phone verified. If your account isn’t phone verified then you won’t be able to update the published video thumbnail.
Wistia Prerequisites
To connect a Wistia account to GoDAM, go to Account Settings and then API Home. Create a new Wistia token and give it the Read update & delete anything permission. Copy the token and save it. Then go to Webhooks and set up two webhooks. The first sends only the media deleted event (media.deleted) to https://app.godam.io/api/method/godam_core.api.media_sync.platform_media_deleted?platform=wistia. It tells GoDAM when you delete a video in Wistia. The second sends only the media updated event (media.updated) to https://app.godam.io/api/method/godam_core.api.media_sync.wistia_swap_completed. It lets GoDAM clean up after it replaces a video file on Wistia. When you create each webhook, enter a secret key of your choice in its Secret Key field. Use the same secret key for both webhooks, and copy it. GoDAM uses it to check the signature of every webhook delivery, and you enter it when you connect Wistia.
Connecting to Platforms
Only organization Owners and Managers can open the Integrations tab and connect accounts. If a platform already has an account connected, click its card and then Connect Another Account.
Vimeo
Use the Client ID and Client Secret from the app you set up in developer.vimeo.com. Go to GoDAM Settings and open the Integrations tab. Click Connect on the Vimeo card. Add the Client ID and Client Secret in the dialog and click Continue. GoDAM takes you to Vimeo.com, where a screen like the one below asks you to authorize GoDAM.
Wistia
Go to GoDAM Settings and open the Integrations tab. Click Connect on the Wistia card. In the dialog, paste the Wistia token into API token and the webhook secret key into Webhook secret, then click Continue.
YouTube
Go to GoDAM Settings and open the Integrations tab. Click Connect on the YouTube card, click Continue, and sign in with the Google account for your YouTube channel.
Publishing a Video
You can publish a video once it has finished transcoding. Owners and Managers can publish any video in the organization, and Creators can publish the videos they own. Videos imported from another platform (for example, from Vimeo) can’t be published. You’ll find the Publish option in these places:
- The Publish (paper-plane) icon on the video’s page.
- The Publish item in the video card’s menu in your media library (⋮ in grid view, ⋯ in list view).
- The button on a video’s row in the Publish tab of the Activity Log (Publish, Edit, Retry, or Edit Draft). Only Owners and Managers can open the Activity Log.
Each of these opens the Publish & sync dialog:
- Under Publish to, check each account you want to publish to.
- Click an account’s name to show its details form on the right. Each account keeps its own details for this video. To add subtitles, pick a transcribed audio track under Captions. Before the first publish to an account, Captions starts at Default transcribed track, which adds captions from the video’s default audio track if it is transcribed. Choose None to publish without captions. To change Captions, open the dialog from the video’s page or your media library.
- Fill in the details, then click the main button. It reads Publish Now for accounts where the video is not published yet, Sync changes for accounts where it is already published, or Publish & sync for a mix. To save the details without publishing, click Save as Draft.
GoDAM closes the dialog and publishes in the background. A toast tells you when each account is done, as long as you stay on the page where you started. If you started from the Activity Log, stay on the Publish tab. Its rows also update when an account is done. If you open another video there before the first one is done, GoDAM keeps publishing the first video but stops showing its progress. Reload the tab later to see its result.
Keeping your channels in sync
Each account keeps its own publish details for the video. Editing the video’s title, description, or thumbnail in your GoDAM library does not change any channel, and it does not flag Needs sync. To change what a channel shows, edit that account’s details in the Publish & sync dialog. GoDAM shows a Needs sync badge on any account with unsaved edits, or whose saved details differ from what was last synced, and you push the changes when you’re ready. Editing the video’s transcript also marks its captions as needing sync.
To sync:
- Reopen the Publish & sync dialog for the video and edit the details of the accounts you want to change.
- Channels that need syncing are flagged Needs sync. Hover over the badge to see which parts changed since the last sync, for example Changed: Details, Thumbnail. Edits you have not saved yet are not listed.
- Check those accounts and click Sync changes. GoDAM pushes only the parts that changed: the details (title, description, tags, and visibility), the thumbnail, or the captions.
Edits made on the platform. When you click or check an account where the video is published, GoDAM checks that platform for edits made there directly. This can also happen as soon as the dialog opens, because one account starts selected. If GoDAM finds edits, a This changed on the platform dialog lists them. Choose Pull into GoDAM to keep the platform’s version, or Keep GoDAM’s values to leave GoDAM’s details as they are. Closing the dialog also keeps GoDAM’s values. The platform keeps its own edits until you sync a change to that account’s title, description, tags, or visibility. That sync overwrites them. The main button stays disabled until you choose.
Removing captions during a sync. If a sync would remove caption languages that are still live on the platform, GoDAM opens a Remove these captions? dialog listing them per channel: “These languages are live on the platform but no longer selected here. Confirming removes them from the channel — this can’t be undone.” Choose Remove captions to proceed or Cancel to leave them live (the channel keeps showing Needs sync until you decide).
Automatic file sync on a new version. There’s one thing GoDAM syncs for you automatically. When a different version of the video goes live, GoDAM pushes the new file to every channel that supports in-place file replacement: Vimeo and Wistia. The links and embeds stay the same. A version goes live when a new version you add in Manage Versions finishes transcoding, or when you click Set Active on another version. Since replacing the file on those platforms can reset the thumbnail and drop caption files, GoDAM also re-applies your chosen thumbnail and captions for that channel right after. You don’t need to redo that selection (a caption removal still waits for your confirmation, same as always). YouTube can’t replace a file in place, so instead GoDAM notifies you that the YouTube copy is now out of date, and you can decide what to do.
Managing and disconnecting channels
Back in Settings → Integrations, the Social section has one card per platform. Each card shows how many accounts are connected, for example 1 Account Connected. Click a card to open its accounts dialog, where each connected account has its own row.
- A healthy account shows a green Connected check.
- An account that needs attention shows a red Needs reconnect warning and a Reconnect button. It opens the connect dialog again. For Vimeo, have your Client ID and Client Secret ready. For Wistia, have your API token and webhook secret key ready. For YouTube, you sign in to Google again.
- To remove an account, click Disconnect on its row and confirm in the Disconnect your {platform} account? dialog. After that you can’t publish or sync new videos to that account. Videos already published there stay published, but their sync history is frozen and can no longer be retried.
Reconnecting the same account brings its published history back to life. Its videos become syncable again automatically.
Un-publishing a Video
You can remove a video from a platform without leaving GoDAM. In the Publish & sync dialog, every account row where the video is Published shows a trash icon next to the link icon. Only organization Owners and Managers see this icon and can remove the video from that channel. As this action is permanent, GoDAM opens a Remove this video from {platform}? dialog. Type DELETE, then click Remove video. Owners and Managers can also use Unpublish from {platform} in a channel’s menu (⋮) in the Publish tab of the Activity Log.
The video is permanently deleted on the platform. Its views, comments, and embeds there are gone, and it disappears from any platform playlists, showcases, or projects it was in.
The video stays in GoDAM. The channel’s saved details (title, description, thumbnail, and caption choice) are not changed, so if you publish the video to that account again, GoDAM reuses them.
Once removed, the account row simply returns to Not published and a “Removed from {platform}” toast confirms it.
Publishing a Playlist
You can publish the playlist on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia. Open the playlist and click the Publish playlist (paper-plane) icon in the header. Owners and Managers see it on every playlist, and Creators see it on playlists they created. It is enabled once at least one video in the playlist is playable. The Publish playlist dialog shows the same checkboxes and platform cards on the left and the publish settings plus a per-video breakdown for the selected account. The collection’s title and description are the playlist’s own. Edit the playlist itself to change them, then publish the playlist again to push the change.
Visibility. One Public/Private choice applies to the whole publish (it starts from the playlist’s own privacy in GoDAM). What it means differs per platform:
- YouTube: the playlist’s privacy is set to public or private.
- Vimeo: showcases can only be made private with a password. Choosing Private with a Vimeo account checked reveals a required Password field. GoDAM passes the password to Vimeo and never stores it. So each time you republish with Private, you enter a password again, and it replaces the showcase’s current password.
- Wistia: the project’s public flag is switched on or off.
What happens to each video. GoDAM never duplicates a video:
- A video already published to that account is simply linked into the collection. The row reads “Will be linked” (or “Already in this playlist/showcase/project” once it is).
- A video not yet published there is published first, then linked. It uses the details you saved for it on that account, or its GoDAM title and description if you saved none, with the visibility you chose. The row reads “Will be published”. If you’d already drafted a stricter visibility for that video on that channel, GoDAM keeps the stricter one. A playlist publish never makes a video more public than you’d chosen.
- Videos that can’t be published (for example, imported videos, audio files, or deleted media) are skipped with a reason, and the rest proceed.
Large playlists. The first 10 videos that need publishing are uploaded immediately, and the rest are queued. The dialog tells you up front: “The first 10 videos publish now — the remaining N are queued and publish automatically in the background.” GoDAM keeps publishing the queued videos in the background, in hourly batches, until the playlist is fully published. Each batch publishes up to 10 queued videos for each connected Vimeo or Wistia account. YouTube limits how many videos GoDAM can upload, so queued YouTube videos can publish more slowly. A large playlist can take many hours. Queued rows read “Queued — publishes automatically”. A queued video that keeps failing is marked failed with its reason after a few attempts, so nothing waits forever.
Wistia projects. A Wistia video can be in only one project. A video that is already published to that Wistia account is skipped unless you check Move already-published videos into this project (removes them from their current Wistia project). Only organization Owners and Managers see this option. Creators see a note instead, and videos already published to that Wistia account stay in their current project. Wistia moves the videos in the background. Videos that GoDAM publishes for the first time during a playlist publish always go into the playlist’s project.
The footer button reads Publish playlist for accounts that don’t have the collection yet, Update playlist for accounts that do, or Publish & update for a mix. When you click it, the dialog closes and the publish runs in the background. If you reopen the dialog while it runs, each video row shows its progress and the account row shows a running counter. When an account finishes, a toast says “Playlist published to {platform}” with a View link. If some videos fail, the toast says how many failed instead. If the checked accounts need nothing, the footer shows “Everything is up to date”.
Re-running a publish. Republish to complete or update a collection. Each run re-pushes the playlist’s title and description, applies a changed visibility, and links or publishes videos added since. The footer button is enabled only when a checked account still needs the collection, has videos to link or publish, or needs a visibility, title, or description change. Nothing is ever duplicated or removed: taking a video out of the GoDAM playlist (or failing partway) never deletes anything remotely. Just republish to finish the job.
Ordering: YouTube: videos are added in your GoDAM playlist order, and later videos are added at the end. Vimeo: videos are added in order, but the showcase’s own sort setting determines how they display. Wistia: project ordering is not controllable.
