GoDAM December 2025 release with improved video transcoding, site whitelisting and PDF support

We are back with new updates for both GoDAM Central and GoDAM plugin, our digital asset management software solution purpose built for WordPress users. We are excited to announce the release of new features and stability improvements. Highlights include:

Video Transcoding Flow and Performance

Starting with this release, we have improved the entire upload to publish experience. Videos will now be viewable immediately after upload, while transcoding runs in the background. You can even update the title during transcoding. Once processing is complete, your video will automatically get advanced capabilities like adaptive bitrate streaming, generated thumbnails, AI Transcription and full embed readiness for your website.

Site Whitelisting for License Control

We have introduced site whitelisting to prevent unauthorized use of your GoDAM API key. You can now specify exactly which sites are allowed to use your key and perform media operations such as transcoding, offloading to the central library, and syncing across connected sites. This gives owners clearer control over how and where their API key is used. Go to Home → Sites to enable this feature.

PDF support

GoDAM Central now supports PDFs. You can upload and store PDFs in your GoDAM cloud storage, share them with your team via a direct URL, and embed them on your site using an iframe.

On the WordPress side, you can use the GoDAM PDF block in the Gutenberg block editor to embed your GoDAM hosted PDFs easily into your posts or pages. GoDAM PDF embeds will be served by our global CDN.

Improvements

GoDAM Central

• Folder & file navigation: Introduced pagination in the folder view to handle large libraries more efficiently and reduce load times
• Search performance: The file search API has been improved to deliver more accurate and predictable results
• Cleaner and more accurate AI transcription workflow: Fixed issues with caption validation and updates and added error handling
• Thumbnail regeneration improvements: Old thumbnails are cleared before regeneration to avoid duplicates and inconsistencies

GoDAM WordPress Plugin

We have also released plugin version 1.4.8 with a few yet essential improvements and fixes.

• Enhancements for Likes & Comments functionality: Comments are preserved on WordPress video when a new comment is added to the same video on GoDAM Central
• “Manage media” button: It now redirects to the specific site folder on GoDAM Central
• Fixed the video player inconsistencies on IOS devices: Full screen toggle now works as expected
• Performance improvements: We have further optimized the asset loading
• Media metadata: On GoDAM Central, media metadata is now available for images, PDFs, audio files, improving asset traceability and control.
• UI upgrades: We updated a few UI on GoDAM media library manager, uploader and player skin for easier workflow

We recommend updating the GoDAM WordPress plugin on your site to the latest version, for GoDAM Central no such update is required, all the features are live and ready to use.
