How to Customize Video Player on WordPress

A personalized, on-brand video player is not just a design luxury, it’s a powerful branding tool that can enhance viewer experience, increase engagement, and communicate your brand identity clearly. GoDAM’s video player customization options are designed with this in mind, giving you the tools to shape your playback experience exactly how you want it and maintain consistent branding.

Step 1: Install the GoDAM WordPress Plugin

Go to your WordPress site dashboard.
Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
Search for “GoDAM”.
Click Install and then Activate.

Step 2: Choose a Player Skin

Go to GoDAM > Settings > Video Player, and select from these built-in player styles:

Default – A modern, clean layout
Classic – Traditional controls
Minimal – A clean, no-clutter look
Bubble – Soft, rounded design
Pills – Sleek and button-focused

Use the live preview at the top of the screen to see what each skin looks like.

Step 3: Set Your Brand Color

Pick a brand color that fits your site using the color picker. This color applies to the player elements. You can also override it for individual videos later using the video editor.

NOTE: Some skins may not support color changes, a message will appear if that’s the case.

Step 4: Add Your Logo

Upload your brand logo to appear on the video player. You can change or remove it anytime.

NOTE: Logo display depends on the skin you choose. If the skin doesn’t support logos, we’ll let you know.

By default, your logo will appear on the video player. However, if it’s not showing, make sure the “Show Branding” option is enabled in the Appearance settings of the individual video.

Step 5: Use Custom CSS (Optional)

If you want more control, scroll down to the Custom CSS field. This lets you add your own CSS to change fonts, hide elements, or fully customize the player design. Read our full documentation on all available classes.

Note: CSS changes apply to all video players across your site.
